Technical Diving Courses

Technical divers go beyond the recreational limits of scuba diving, usually deeper than 40m/130ft and with planned decompression stops

Technical divers go beyond the recreational limits of scuba diving, usually deeper than 40m/130ft and with planned decompression stops. They may accelerate their decompression by switching to a stage cylinder with a higher oxygen content, and more advanced technical divers may breathe a mix of air, oxygen and helium to allow them to dive much deeper.

Due to their extra training, experience and specialised equipment, technical divers are able to explore new dive sites at a considerably deeper depth, and may also focus their training on one specific goal, such as wreck diving or technical Closed-Circuit Rebreather (CCR) diving.

Here at Oasis Explorers, we have an experienced technical diving team to help guide you in the right direction, and professional technical diving instructors who teach a wide array of courses, from the introductory to the advanced.

Our Technical Diving Courses

Minimum pre-requisite: PADI Tec 45 Diver (or equivalent), 100 logged dives, Rescue Diver, with at least 20 dives on Enriched Air Nitrox deeper than 18m/30ft and 15 dives deeper than 30m/100ft.

PADI TRIMIX 65

The PADI Trimix 65 course will allow you to use a helium mix in your breathing gases in order to dive deeper than 50m. Helium added to your breathing gas will help reduce narcosis and provide the ability to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen, extending your maximum depth to 65m.

Minimum pre-requisite: PADI Tec 50 Diver (or equivalent), 100 logged dives, Rescue Diver.

PADI ADVANCED TRIMIX

The PADI Advanced Trimix course will allow you to use a helium mix in your breathing gases, with hypoxic oxygen content, in order to dive deeper than 65m. Helium added to your breathing gas will help reduce narcosis and provide the ability to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen, extending your maximum depth to 90m.

Minimum pre-requisite: PADI Tec 50 or PADI Trimix 65 Diver (or equivalent), 150 logged dives, Rescue Diver.

PADI TEC TRIMIX GAS BLENDER

The course consists of theory and dry practical application.

Minimum pre-requisite: Enriched Air Diver. Minimum age 18 years.

PADI EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST

The PADI Equipment Specialist course teaches you how to make minor repairs and adjustments on the go, useful if you own your own dive gear. If you don’t yet but would like to purchase your own gear, you will have the opportunity to learn more about how the different kinds of equipment work for your specific requirements. This course can be personalised to suit your needs.

This course consists of theory and dry practical sessions.

Minimum pre-requisite: Scuba Diver (or equivalent).

DISCOVER REBREATHER

The Discover Rebreather programme will teach you the basics of how a rebreather works and allow you to try it out with an instructor for two pool sessions, or one pool session and one open water dive.

This programme is one day duration and includes two in-water sessions.

Minimum pre-requisite: Open Water Diver (or equivalent), minimum age 18 years.

PADI REBREATHER DIVER – Poseidon Se7e

The PADI Rebreather Diver course is the first step into rebreather diving. You will learn all you need to know about the Poseidon Se7en rebreather, and get certified to dive using the equipment to a maximum depth of 18m.

This course consists of theory, dry practical sessions and 6 training dives.

Minimum pre-requisite: PADI Open Water (or equivalent), Enriched Air Nitrox Diver, minimum age 18 years.

PADI ADVANCED REBREATHER DIVER – Poseidon Se7en

The PADI Advanced Rebreather Diver course is for Rebreather Divers who are looking to dive a bit deeper on their Poseidon Se7en rebreather. This course will teach you how to safely utilize a bail-out cylinder, and allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 30m (or 40m for certified PADI Deep Divers, or equivalent).

This course consists of theory, dry practical sessions and 5 training dives.

Minimum pre-requisite: PADI Open Water Diver and Rebreather Diver (or equivalent), OR PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and Enriched Air Diver (or equivalent), minimum age 18 years.

PADI TEC 40 REBREATHER DIVER – Poseidon Se7en

The PADI Tec 40 Rebreather Diver course is the first step into technical diving for PADI Advanced Rebreather Divers, and you will learn how to safely plan and execute decompression dives using the Poseidon Se7en rebreather, bail-out and decompression cylinders, decompression plans, and mixed-gas dive computers.

Please note:

You are required to fill out an RSTC Medical Statement, which must be signed by a physician, prior to any technical diving or technical dive in-water training. Please download it here

You are also required to be fully covered with an active insurance policy that specifically states you are insured for technical diving. We recommend Divers Alert Network (DAN).

Please bring with you proof of your highest certification level and your dive-log records.

All divers, regardless of certification and experience, must complete a check-dive prior to any technical diving.
